Craigy F "Puffy" (Prod. by Zard Beats)

Food For Thought: New Year New You

Simply put. New year new you? Leave it all behind. The stress, complaining, old news, tiring drama, constant set backs. Leave it. Reset & aim the new year to be a new you. Even if you like who you are in the current year then carry them over to be better after the ball drops. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Presented By @OnlyInBOS: Boston's Top 25 Hip Hop Songs In 2014

Boston Hip Hop doesn't have a sound..yet. Boston Hip Hop doesn't have a face..yet. Boston Hip Hop isn't on..yet. But it's getting there and 2014 was proof in the pudding. The future of hip hop in Boston and surrounding areas looks very bright. From street anthems to "feel good" singles, to radio hits, to love songs, to party/club bangers, to Boston had it's shining moments with it all this year. It's going to be interesting to see where things go from here but the only direction is up.
The list below is the Top 25 Hip Hop songs from Boston and surrounding cities. A lot of things were considered when curating this list, mostly: quality, replay value, overall strength of the record, and impact. Following this list is the stream for the collection which is available for download to the first 100 people. The list was curated by Nathan Johnson (@NateSaid) and hosted by Only In Boston (@OnlyInBOS).

The Crucifixion of Iggy

What is the new big fuss in music these days? Well above you will see it. YES! This milk of Malaysia is the new source of black anger. She reportedly doesn't understand our culture nor rap music at that. Made a few misguided comments and the end of the world happened. Q-Tip attempted to school her while Clifford "T.I. the human thesaurus" Harris suited up his finest cape. I mean everyone hates her music, I clearly don't know why, but they figure they do. Whole situation had me confused. So I tweeted a few tweets of that confusion below.

Album Review: "2014 Forest Hills Drive" By @NateSaid

If You Like real and you like Hip Hop, you fuck with J. Cole. J. Cole wasn't aiming to prove he can rap. We already knew he could do that. He was trying to let us know he can make a top-shelf album and still be true to himself. With that being said, Forest Hills Drive is a concept album. The concept is a walk through J. Cole's life...beginning from Forest Hills Drive.
The album starts with Cole singing over some groovy piano keys and repeating the question: "Do you wanna be happy?" and repeating the word "free". So right off rip I knew the next 12 tracks were going to be that real, artistic, personal shit.

Theme Song of the Week 12/1-12/7: R. Kelly "Feelin' On Yo Booty"

Food For Thought: Opportunity

When it comes, it comes and you have that chance and it only may be THAT chance to take it. Great opportunities do not come often. So when that one you been waiting and wishing for arrives at your door let it in. Your future might be within that entry. Make sure you are always well prepped and prepared for any opportunity that you envisioned to come. Then the time comes where you may have missed a chance at something wonderful. It will get you down but others built with optimism will turn it into a drive to pursue the next and take the risk not to miss out again. So never miss out because living life with a million "What ifs?" searching inside yourself for what went wrong will never be a good thing in the end. So take them all if the risk will be so greatly more rewarding in the end. Second chances do come though and they either show that it was meant to miss or worth the way. Some of us have to grow into the opportunity that was granted before. So I say to all, take the opportunities that come, measure the risk and take the chance if you'll be happy after it's all said and done.
