Murder is nothing we'll look at someone easily as a murderer but let it be rape we are defensive. Rightfully so we are because the women of our world are precious. We love and cherish them and rape is just something we can't tolerate. So when 50+ women for over 50 years say you did them harm, yes we can easily ignore all evidence, all common sense, all what ifs and want to protect. AS WE SHOULD.
